I just got a chance to check out Dmitriy Tubin’s assembly of the H.M.S. Resolution. This 1:700 scale model by Frog really punches above its weight in terms of detailing. One thing that immediately caught my eye is the paint job—it’s got this really clean look, which makes the lines of the ship stand out sharply. The subtle color transitions give it a sense of tidy realism, which is impressive at this size.
While admiring this model, I can’t help but think about the real H.M.S. Resolution, a part of the Revenge-class battleships. As the story goes, this ship served during both World Wars and was quite a powerhouse back in its day. It’s interesting how these ships were seen as the backbone of naval strength, brimming with heavy artillery that could deliver quite a punch.
In looking at this model, what gets me is how it manages to capture both the sleekness and power of the original ship. The craftsmanship involved in bringing this mini battleship to life is definitely noteworthy. For anyone interested in naval history or just the art of model building, this piece is surely worth a look. The balance between detail and simplicity here just makes it something special.
