I’m checking out Aleksey Kasatkin’s IS-2 model in 1:72 scale from Zvezda, and I have to say, the weathering really makes it stand out. The subtle grime on the tracks and the chipped paint give it a battlefield-worn look that’s pretty convincing. It’s like you can almost see it rumbling through dusty landscapes of history.

Speaking of history, the IS-2 was truly something back in the day. From what I’ve read, this Soviet heavy tank was a response to the tougher German armor they encountered during World War II. It had a massive 122mm gun, which was a game changer — not something you’d want to see rolling toward you if you were on the opposite side!

This model captures a lot of that spirit. The paint job is great, reflecting the classic Soviet green, and those little details around the turret are really neat. Despite its weathered look, everything seems well put together and clean where it needs to be.

What makes this model worth checking out is how it balances detail with a bit of storytelling through its weathering. It’s not just a model; it feels like a piece of history. Aleksey Kasatkin did a solid job bringing a small bit of the past to life here.
