I’ve been looking at some photos of Aleksey’s SU-85 model in 1:35 scale from Tamiya, and I have to say, the weathering really caught my eye. It adds a great touch to the whole piece, making it look like it’s seen quite a bit of action. The subtle dirt and scratches give it that lived-in feel, like it’s just rolled off the battlefields of Eastern Europe.
Speaking of the SU-85, this tank destroyer was quite the game changer back in its day. If I remember correctly, it was the answer to dealing with German armor, especially the formidable Tigers. These vehicles were all about packing a punch with their 85mm guns while staying maneuverable. They weren’t just about brute force; they played a key role in turning the tide during some crucial confrontations.
Back to Aleksey’s work—it’s this kind of detail and care in modeling that I find so engaging. The model’s character is brought out not just through the precise craftsmanship but via the small elements that tell a story. It’s more than just a miniature; it’s a piece of history on your shelf. This makes the model thoroughly engaging, giving it a sense of authenticity and significance.
