Taking a glance at these images of John Plzak’s build of the Takom 1/72 scale M60A1 w/ERA and M60A3, the first thing that jumps out is the attention to those fine details. The paint is crisp, with a nice divide between the shades on the M60A1. It almost feels like you can see the model’s story through its luster — the glossy finish on the ERA elements adds a modern touch to this classic armor.

Switching to the weathering, the tracks show just the right amount of wear. It’s not overdone, yet gives the tanks a sense of realism, like they’ve seen a few battles but are still ready for more. I’m particularly fond of how the subtle dust effects have been used, giving it that realistic battlefield vibe without overshadowing the primary paint job.

The M60 series itself has quite an interesting history. These tanks were a real game changer during their time, serving from the 1960s through the 1990s with a variety of armies worldwide. There’s something special about seeing history captured in miniature form, and these models do just that — anchoring a bit of that military legacy on a small scale.

John’s ability to capture the intricacies of these models is impressive. Details like the rivets and the contours of the turrets are cleanly defined. It makes me wonder about his process — did he plan each weathering step, or was it more of an organic progression?

Something I find neat about the real M60 tanks is their adaptability, having been updated with different technologies over the years. This echoes how his model work seems to evolve, capturing that spirit of innovation and endurance.

In sum, what stands out most is how these models merge historical reverence with skilled craftsmanship, making them a delightful piece for any military enthusiast or modeler.
