Checking out the photos of Sergey Puchkov’s 1:35 scale Prosto tank (KV-1) model kit by Trumpeter, the first thing that jumps out is the impressive weathering. The subtle aging on the paint gives this tank a lived-in, realistic look, reflecting the battle-worn feel of authentic WWII armor. The tracks, in particular, have a nice touch; they look gritty and believable without being overdone.
The KV-1 was a real workhorse for the Soviets during World War II, known for its heavy armor and reliable performance. It was a tank that could take a beating and keep rolling. Not to mention, it played a crucial role during pivotal battles. Looking at this model, you can almost imagine it trudging along the Eastern Front.
What I find fascinating is how Sergey captured the spirit of the original. The detailing is spot-on with the rivets and bolts standing out crisply against the body. The decal with the slogan written on the turret is a nice nod to history, adding character and context.
There are some clever techniques here, especially in how the different textures are created across the surface. The rust spots and worn patches tell a story of time and test. This doesn’t just feel like a static model — it’s like a captured moment from the past.
Something that crosses my mind when looking at this model: I wonder if Sergey was inspired by a specific historical tank or if he wanted to represent a general KV-1 feel. Either way, it works beautifully.
What I love most about this model is the weathering. It’s realistic but not over the top, which makes it visually intriguing. It’s this balance of craftsmanship and storytelling that makes the model truly captivating.
