From the moment I saw the photos of this model, the paint job really caught my eye. The shade of green used is just right—it looks authentic and captures that rugged feel associated with the KV series tanks. What’s great about this build by Strosek is the subtle weathering. It adds such a realistic touch, making the tank look like it’s just rolled off the battlefield rather than a pristine showroom.

Looking at the details, I have to say, Trumpeter’s kit at 1:72 scale really brings out some fantastic elements. The decal work on the turret is clean and crisp, capturing the bold message with perfect clarity. It’s these little details that elevate the whole model. The tracks have a nice weathered look too, not overdone, giving just enough to highlight the wear and tear these machines would inevitably endure.

As for the KV series, these were some serious beasts back in their day. The “Opytnyy obrazets drednouta” was a prototype, from what I gather. It never saw combat but was part of the fascinating development path of heavy Soviet tanks during WWII. It’s an interesting historical piece, a testament to the relentless pursuit of powerful armory during those times.

I’m always intrigued by models that depict what might have been. This one makes me wonder how it would have performed if it had gone beyond the prototype stage. Perhaps it would’ve changed some aspects of tank design at the time.

What I love most about this model is Strosek’s ability to balance detail and artistry. It’s not just about replication; it’s also about storytelling through scale and craftsmanship. The end result makes this model not just a representation but a mini tribute to those engineering feats of the past.
