The first thing that grabs my attention about this 1:35 scale BMD-2 model by Eduard is the terrific weathering. It’s got that lived-in look, with dirt and grime perfectly settled into crevices. It’s not overdone, just enough to tell a story of countless missions and rough terrains. The panel lines stand out nicely, giving a sense of depth and realism that’s just so satisfying to see.

As for the real BMD-2, it’s interesting to note that this was an airborne infantry fighting vehicle developed by the Soviets. The BMD-2 was designed for rapid deployment and could be airdropped, fully armed, with a crew inside. That’s some serious engineering — in and out of action as quickly as possible. It’s no wonder it was a key player in fast-moving operations.

This model is really something else because it captures the spirit of the BMD-2 well. From the subtle weathering that adds authenticity to the sharp details on the tracks, it’s a treat for both enthusiasts and newcomers. It’s always fascinating to see how a small-scale model can invoke the story of its full-sized counterpart.
