Checking out the photos of the UH-13 (H-13) Sioux model by Mr DAN #2 in 1:72 scale, the first thing that caught my eye is the frame’s meticulous detail. The paint job looks great, with a military green that feels just right. The overall clean look of the build is impressive, maintaining the finesse without overdoing any weathering, which can sometimes overwhelm this scale.

The H-13 Sioux itself has a pretty cool backstory. It served as a versatile workhorse during the Korean War and is probably best remembered for its role in medical evacuations. Just imagining this bird hovering over rugged terrain with its distinctive “bubble” canopy is something else. It brought a new level of mobility to battlefield medicine back in the day.

One thing that stands out is the clear cockpit canopy. It’s crafted nicely, offering a peek into the model’s inner workings. That’s always tricky to pull off, especially at this scale, and it shows the builder’s attention to detail. The decals are neatly applied, and they pop against the green background. It’s these little touches that bring the model to life.

As for the rotor blades, they look well-aligned and sturdy, not always an easy feat when you’re dealing with fine parts that can be quite fiddly. I wonder if Mr DAN #2 decided to keep the weathering subtle to capture the look of a relatively new or well-maintained aircraft. It’s a choice that brings out the sleekness of the Sioux’s design.

The highlight for me is definitely the exposed framework. It really captures the essence of the real H-13 and gives the model a dynamic feel. This build is interesting for those subtle touches and accuracy, making the history of the Sioux resonate through this miniature rendition.
