Just looking at these photos of Vladimir Kuzmin’s An-124 Ruslan model, the cleanliness of the build is what stands out right away. Revell’s 1:144 scale kit seems to have been assembled with a keen eye for detail; the panel lines are crisp, and the paintwork is smooth, giving the model a polished finish. The design is simple yet effective, which makes the An-124’s massive frame come to life on a smaller scale.

A fun fact about the An-124: it’s one of the largest cargo planes in the world, originally designed in the Soviet Union in the 1980s. This gigantic aircraft was built to transport heavy machinery, and it’s a marvel of engineering. Interestingly, it has a unique kneeling nose gear, which allows easier loading of cargo, demonstrating its purpose-built nature for handling oversized loads.

This model, in my opinion, captures all that makes the An-124 so fascinating. There’s something genuinely satisfying about seeing such a behemoth of aviation, scaled down and sitting on a shelf. It’s a reminder of engineering prowess and a piece of history, perfectly captured through modeling. It’s definitely a model worth admiring for both its craftsmanship and the story it tells.
