Checking out Aleksey Ivashov’s 1:72 Hawker Typhoon Mk.IA model is quite a treat. Right off the bat, what catches my eye is how neat and crisp the build looks. The paint job is spot-on, capturing that classic RAF camouflage with clean lines and vibrant roundels. The decals are smooth, without any nasty silvering that can ruin the finish sometimes. It’s clear that Aleksey has a steady hand and a keen eye for detail.

The Hawker Typhoon itself has such an intriguing history. It was originally designed as a high-speed interceptor in WWII but found its fame in the ground-attack role. With its beefy engine and those distinctive wing cannons, it became a formidable adversary against enemy tanks and trains. I can almost picture it roaring low over the fields of Normandy in 1944.

One of the more striking elements of this model is the subtle weathering. It’s not overdone but gives that lived-in look, like a Typhoon ready to fly another combat sortie. It’s amazing how with just a little bit of shading and some gentle highlighting, Aleksey captures the essence of an aircraft that’s seen some action. And those wheel wells and the landing gear are nicely painted, adding an extra layer of realism.

I also find myself wondering about the spinner and the propeller. They’re clean and sharp, but wouldn’t it be fun to see them with a bit of a dusty effect, like they’ve just come back from a mission?

What makes this model really stand out for me is the craftsmanship. Aleksey’s attention to detail with the panel lines and overall finish makes it come alive. This Typhoon isn’t just a model; it’s a tiny piece of history brought to life.
