The first thing that caught my eye from the photos of the Kawasaki Ki-100-I Otsu model is the paint job. It just looks great, with the colors really capturing the authentic feel of this WWII aircraft. There’s a vibrancy to it, yet it stays true to the historical look, which I think is quite an achievement. Eduard, who built this model, clearly has a skillful hand, especially considering the 1:48 scale, which demands precision.
Speaking of which, there’s an interesting historical tidbit about the Ki-100. From what I know, this fighter was a bit of a legend during its time. It was originally developed as a response to engine shortages, using what were basically leftover radial engines. These changes surprisingly turned out to be quite effective, even, as some would say, the Ki-100 ended up outperforming many of its contemporaries in combat. It’s always fascinating how such war-driven adaptability leads to unexpected successes.
All in all, it’s models like this that make our hobby so engaging. The attention to detail from the Hasegawa kit, paired with Eduard’s work, brings a piece of history to life, making it a display worthy of any enthusiast’s collection.
