I’m really digging into the Ki-84-Ia Nakajima model I’ve been assembling lately. Just from looking at the photos, what stands out immediately is the fantastic weathering effect Sergey Kulakov has achieved. It brings this kit to life in a way that’s hard to ignore, making the plane look like it’s seen a few intense dogfights. The weathering adds a nice touch of realism and depth.

Now, speaking about the Ki-84, or “Hayate” as it’s often called, it’s got some fascinating history. Back in its day, it was one of the Imperial Japanese Army Air Service’s top fighters. Known for its speed and agility, the Hayate gave Allied pilots a real challenge. It might not have the fame of some other aircraft, but pilots back then were relieved it didn’t come into play earlier during the war.

What makes this model set by Hasegawa truly interesting is how well it captures the spirit of the original aircraft. The detailing is sharp and clear, while the paintwork compliments the overall look. It’s almost like stepping back in time and getting a glimpse of the real deal. Whether you’re a history buff or just love a beautifully crafted model, this one is worth a look.
