Taking a look at Daniil’s MiG-21PFM model from Eduard, the first thing that pops out is the weathering. It has that lived-in look, the kind of wear you’d see on a jet that’s had its share of skies. The subtle grime in panel lines and a hint of fading on the paintwork make it feel like this plane has seen some action. It’s got character, which is often hard to achieve in a 1:72 scale piece. And those decals are positioned just right, aren’t they? They sit perfectly without looking out of place, which can make or break a model sometimes.
Now, a bit about the real MiG-21PFM. This iconic jet is often lovingly called the “Fishbed,” and it was quite the star during its time. From what I know, it was a staple in the Cold War era, famous for its delta wing design and high-speed capabilities. These jets were one of the first to break into supersonic speeds without needing afterburners all the time. Pretty neat, right?
This model truly stands out because of its attention to detail and that storytelling weathering. It’s a fantastic reminder of an era where speed and agility were the names of the game. Definitely makes for an interesting piece to showcase on any enthusiast’s shelf.
