Taking a look at Dmitriy Kuksov’s build of the EA-6B Prowler, the first thing that grabs my attention is the crisp detailing. The paint job is really clean, with sharp lines and a neat finish. You can tell that a lot of care went into masking the cockpit and body, especially given the scale of 1:72. The decals are perfectly aligned, and each contributes to the model’s overall authentic look.
The weathering is subtle yet effective — enough to suggest it’s been through a few missions without being overly dramatic. It gives the impression of a well-maintained aircraft, which fits the Prowler’s history as an electronic warfare aircraft that served diligently over the decades. The Prowler was an essential part of the U.S. Navy, known for jamming radar and gathering intelligence, an unseen guardian in many operations.
Kuksov did a fantastic job with the construction details, too. The undercarriage looks solid and adds a touch of realism that’s often hard to achieve in smaller models. It’s the little things, like the antennas and refueling probe, that really elevate the build. It makes me wonder whether Kuksov intended to capture a specific moment in the Prowler’s service life.
One interesting fact about the real EA-6B is that it was one of the quietest jets for its size, a feature that played to its advantage in stealth missions. Seeing these elements translated into the model gives it a deeper background and a story of sorts.
The aspect I appreciated most about this model is how it balances detail and simplicity, telling the aircraft’s story without over-embellishment. It’s a testament to both the craft of the builder and the legacy of the Prowler itself.
