I’m really excited to share my thoughts on this 1:72 scale MiG-23PD model by Art Model. Right off the bat, the paint job really stands out — it’s smooth, with a great use of colors that makes the model feel alive. There’s something about how the blue and grey tones come together that just feels right. The lines and decals are neat, fitting perfectly into the overall look.
Now, a bit about the real MiG-23PD. From what I’ve read, this was part of some experimental designs during the Cold War. The “PD” stands for “Podyomnyye Dvigateli,” which means “lifting engines” in Russian, as this aircraft was intended to have vertical take-off and landing capabilities. It’s fascinating how engineers back then were constantly pushing the limits of aviation technology. You can almost imagine the kind of meetings and brainstorming sessions they’d have, full of audacious ideas.
Overall, this model really does justice to the experimental nature of the MiG-23PD. The attention to detail, particularly in the paintwork, is commendable. For anyone into military aviation models, this is something special that deserves a spot in the collection. It’s a piece that invites conversation and curiosity, not just about modeling, but about the fascinating history behind it.
