The first thing that stands out when looking at SAURON’s model of the Handley Page HP.52 Hampden is the neatness of the assembly. The clean lines and precise fitting of the pieces really catch the eye. The paint job is very well done too, with a classic camouflage pattern that suits the model. It feels like a miniature time machine taking us back to the skies of World War II. The decals are nicely placed, adding a touch of realism without overdoing it.
A fun tidbit about the real Hampden bomber is that it was nicknamed the “Flying Suitcase” due to its narrow fuselage. It might not have been the most comfortable ride, but it sure had character! The Hampden played a significant role during WWII, taking part in the early bombing campaigns. It was nimble for its size, and even though it got overshadowed by later models, it had its fair share of daring missions.
What makes this model worth checking out is how well it captures the essence of the Hampden. It’s got a straightforward charm, and the attention to detail makes it enjoyable for both history buffs and model enthusiasts alike. Looking at it, you can almost imagine it taking off into history.
