The first thing that catches my eye with this JU-87 G-2 model by Academy is the weathering. Vladislav has done a fantastic job at capturing the essence of wear and tear that these aircraft would have seen in action. The subtle chipping on the fuselage and the slight discoloration around the engine area really bring it to life. It’s as if this model could tell stories of the sorties it’s flown.

Now, here’s a fun tidbit about the actual JU-87: it earned the nickname “Kanonenvogel” due to the twin 37mm cannons mounted under the wings. These were designed specifically to take on armored targets, giving the Stuka a formidable reputation on the battlefield. The aircraft’s ability to decimate targets with precision made it both feared and respected. I’ve always thought this dual personality of the Stuka — both as a battlefield terror and a technical marvel — was fascinating.

What makes this model truly deserving of attention is how it balances historical accuracy with artistry. The scale and detail invite you to take a closer look and imagine the stories of bravery and strategy behind them. It’s the kind of model that not only looks cool on a shelf but also sparks conversations and deeper dives into history.
